Changes to digital collections

This announcement will be most relevant to people who have links to online content for courses such as digitised book chapters and articles, online videos and images.

The library is making changes to the way the Learning Repository, which contains RMIT created and licensed works, is hosted. The Learning Repository will not be accessible after 20 December. Links will not work, and files cannot be uploaded.

What is happening to the content?
Content previously on the Learning Repository has been migrated to the Digital Collections Repository. Browse the digital collections or use Library Search to find a specific item.

If you’re looking for RMIT images to use, they can now be found in the Digital Collection Repository.

What do I need to do?
If you haven't already done so for 2018 check your eReserve (online readings links). Consider enabling reading lists in Canvas, and discover how easy it is to manage and keep links to your readings current.

If you would like us to activate a new link for you to put in Canvas please let us know by 10 December.

If you use online video from the video collection you will need to update your links to the new location for the collection.

If you discover your links are not working email: eReserve.library@rmit.edu.au

Research Skills for HDR Candidates

The Library recently launched a range of online modules specifically designed for PhD and Masters by research candidates.

  • Researching your literature review
  • Setting up your researcher profile
  • Choosing where to publish.

Each module takes about 30 minutes to complete and includes practical activities that will benefit your research.  We encourage you to provide feedback and tell us what you think.

Further topics will be added in the future:
  • Are you being cited?
  • EndNote for your thesis.

These are online versions of the research skills workshops taught in the School of Graduate Research PhDUp program.

If you would like to attend a face-to-face workshop, see the Library’s Researchers web page, or the PhD Up program, for details of available workshops.

Please contact your liaison librarian for further information or to book a research consultation.

Library makerspace

The RMIT University Library Makerspace has been created to enable anyone in the RMIT community to explore and realise creative ideas through exploration and collaboration ....and probably a whole lot of trial and error.
We provide access to a growing range tools and equipment to help you experiment, investigate and problem solve. While we provide some support, the idea is for you to learn by doing. We recognise the immense body of knowledge and the vast range of skills stored in the people at RMIT and hope the Makerspace can be a place for this community to come together, share skills and knowledge and learn from each other.
We encourage walk up use, group activities and special events. Group activities and events can be organised via our booking page. You can see what has been happening in the space at our showcase page.
To get you started we offer regular induction sessions for the space and certain tools and technology. Check out what's on and find an induction time that suits you.
See the Makerspace website for more information.
